How to Get a Fender Acoustic Guitar for Less

Image
Fender. The name alone could send shivers up any guitarist’s spine. Many beginners aspire to have their own Fender guitar but are unable to because of budget constraints. If you’re just starting out, you really shouldn’t worry about Fenders on the upper end of the price spectrum. There are Fender guitars designed for beginners and are priced affordably so you can get started on the right foot - with a quality guitar that makes learning to play more fulfilling. The FA-100 starter pack for example. It costs just around $150 and includes a Fender acoustic guitar, picks, extra strings, a clip-on tuner, guitar strap and a gig bag. Now that’s great value for money! When you’ve considerably improved in your playing skills and want to level up in terms of musical equipment, you’ll probably want a more advanced guitar to suit your playing style. When that time comes, you still can save money on a Fender. Here are some great ideas how. Look for Fender coupons. Many auth...

Avoiding Bad Guitar Playing Habits – Nip Them in the Bud Early On

The earlier bad guitar playing habits are nipped in the bud the better for beginner guitarists – it’s all too easy for mistakes to become ingrained in one’s playing techniques which makes them extremely difficult to break out of later on. Some bad guitar playing habits are caused by laziness, for instance failing to tune the guitar before playing, whilst others are the result of simply not knowing that one is going about things the wrong way, like incorrectly positioning one’s left hand thumb on the back of the guitar neck. It’s advantageous to understand that playing the guitar is a physical activity, and like any physical activity, you need to get the fundamentals down pat before you move onto something more complex. Adopting the wrong attitude to practice This is the number one bad habit of beginner guitarists, particularly those raised on ‘Guitar Hero’ for some reason – too much rocking out before learning the fundamentals perhaps? Adopting the wrong atti...

A Date with the Jersey Boys

Image
I have never been fond of watching musicals. I would like to believe that I am a picky viewer when it comes to such. While some may consider watching such as a way to feed their hunger for the arts, I consider it a luxury that should only be done when there’s a strong reason behind it. Nevertheless, I must admit that I would gladly spend my hard-earned money on  Jersey Boys jukebox musical. To be able to get discounts on buying 4 tickets, I will   compare price of Jersey Boys tickets at Big Ticket Shop UK   just  so my husband and I together with our two sons would never pass up the opportunity to watch them. The story revolves mainly around the formation, success, and eventual break-up of The Four Seasons and its front man Frankie Valli. If you are not familiar with the group, perhaps because you were born long after the group disbanded, they were a rock and roll group that was quite successful and popular during the 1960s. They shot to fame and went over the top...

My son and his guitar, making beautiful music

Image
My youngest son’s summer music lessons have been a successful fulfillment in his desire to learn how to play the guitar. A recital after a month’s session has proven that his skill in taking on this musical instrument has dramatically improved, as he does not only learn how to strum the guitar but also can read notes and chords. Because he wants to learn more, he asked me and his dad’s permission if we will allow him to continue with his guitar lessons on a weekend basis as school year is about to begin by first week of June. Naturally, we said yes, we want him to hone his talent and skill in guitar playing but in one condition that he will also make good in his academic performance as well. Automatically, he answered it’s a deal so we enrolled him again for another set of guitar sessions and made arrangements with his weekend schedule. Earl’s Music Learning Center is the music school wherein my son, Yahmir took his summer guitar lessons. It is administrated by two young entreprene...

Learning Music this Summer

Image
School year has ended, two months of school break has begun and as a reward to the Academic Distinction Award that Yahmir, my youngest son acquired at the end of the school year, I bought him a premium account on the game he’s playing online. Additionally, his dad enrolled him to a music learning center nearby to gain a unique experience in learning to play his guitar. Aside from being studious and a book worm, he is also interested in music. To develop his musical journey, we added guitar lessons in one of his activities this summer to keep him busy and at the same time enjoy his school break.

Reading Music: A lost art?

In this modern era in which every house hold has a computer or two, on the internet you can pretty much find a dumbed down version of everything. Recently I have been looking at learning the guitar by using only chords. Basically this is done in rather a crude manner. A guitar fret board is drawn on a web page using hyphens and a letter representing a specific note is drawn on this ‘fret board’ indicating where you must place your finger whilst strumming. After having tuned my new guitar using a simple online tuner (all you need is a computer with a microphone) , I set off and started strumming whilst holding the guitar string in the place indicated and eventually after messing about for 20 minutes I actually recognised the sounds coming out of my guitar as the song I was trying to play. You do have to kind of jiggle about with the speed at which you are doing It as if you do it too slow or too fast it will not sound right.
